First distinguish between products and collections
"Products" are product content that can be displayed individually on the website, including titles, pictures, descriptions, specifications, prices or inquiry information, etc.; "collection" is used to organize related products into categories to facilitate navigation, filtering and thematic display. Whether it is the B2C retail station or the B2B product station, it is recommended to plan the classification first and then organize the product information in batches.
Enter product management
After logging into the website management backend, you can enter the product list from "Products". Product management supports viewing products, adding or editing products, managing collections, and processing recycle bin contents. The specific button names may vary slightly depending on the store type and enabled features.

What to prepare before creating a new product
- A clear, unique, customer-facing item or product title.
- Main image and detail image, and confirm that the image has legal usage rights.
- Product description, product parameters, application scenarios and necessary delivery instructions.
- B2C requires information such as selling price, specifications, inventory, weight and SKU.
- B2B required model, parameters, purchasing conditions and information required for inquiry.
How to handle specifications and inventory
A single style is suitable for products with no color, size or other options; multiple styles are suitable for products with different specifications that require separate prices, inventory or pictures. Before enabling inventory tracking, you must first determine whether to prohibit purchases, allow continued orders, or temporarily remove items when out of stock. If the B2B website mainly confirms price and quantity through inquiries, the actual inquiry process should prevail and do not copy the inventory and checkout logic of B2C.
Create clear categories with collections
- Start by planning your first-level categories in terms that your customers will be looking for, such as product line, application, or industry.
- Avoid confusingly classifying the same level by material, scene, and model.
- Fill in a concise title and description for your collection, and select relevant products.
- Add the main collection to the top or product navigation, and check the mobile hierarchy.
Check before putting on shelves
- The product title, pictures, and descriptions are consistent with the specifications, and there is no placeholder content.
- Prices, inventory, and currency match current site sales practices.
- The product has been added to the correct collection, and the collection page can be accessed normally.
- The image proportions, buttons and main information are clear on both the computer and mobile versions.
- Product and collection translations for multilingual sites have been reviewed as necessary.
Daily maintenance suggestions
Don’t just organize your products when you first build your website. It is recommended to establish a fixed person in charge to regularly check the off-shelf products, inventory, prices, parameters, invalid pictures and classification relationships. Use the same naming, picture, and description rules when adding new products. The website will be easier to maintain and it will be easier for customers to find what they need.
