Why organize the information first?
In the process of building a website, what is most likely to affect the progress is usually not page production, but incomplete brand, product, company and service information. Establishing a data list in advance can confirm the website structure faster and reduce repeated modifications before going online.
Brand basic information
- The standard name of the brand, original logo file and brand introduction.
- Primary colors, secondary colors, and fonts or visual conventions that can be used publicly.
- Company name, contact email, phone number, address and social media portal.
- The core business, service range and points of differentiation that you want customers to remember.
Product or product information
The B2C website recommends preparing product titles, categories, prices, inventory, specifications, pictures, descriptions, packaging, logistics and after-sales information. The B2B website recommends preparing product catalogs, models, parameters, application scenarios, purchasing conditions, pictures, documents, and information that needs to be collected when making inquiries.
Website page information
- Key content and main action buttons on the home page.
- About Us, Contact Us, FAQs and Service Descriptions.
- Privacy Policy, Terms of Service, and necessary return, exchange or delivery policies.
- Cases, certifications or cooperation information that can be displayed publicly; do not fill in information that cannot be verified.
Domain name and account information
Prepare the domain name you plan to use and confirm who holds the domain name and where it is managed. When payment, logistics, corporate email, statistical analysis or other third-party functions are involved, the customer should create or control the account himself, and complete authorization through a secure method. Don't send passwords, verification codes, and keys in regular chat or public forms.
Multilingual information
First determine the basic language and target market of the first version, and then decide which pages need to be translated. A unified vocabulary should be established for brand names, product models, units, industry terms and legal content. Machine translation can assist with first drafts, but key sales content and legal policies should still be reviewed by someone familiar with the target market.
Check before submission
It is recommended to organize the data according to three statuses: "Confirmed, To be added, and Not for display yet" and use clear names for each file. For pictures, text, logos and cases, you should confirm that you have legal use rights. After the data range is confirmed, enter the page construction and content entry stage.
